Downloadable PDF instructions for how to weave a miniature wall hanging using a mini loom (preferable) or a mezzo loom. For a version of this project that includes a printed manual, yarn and dowel shipped to you, please see my store
This is a beginner pattern.
You will learn:
Plain weave, Sumac stitch, Rhys stitch (for adding a fringe), working with colours and shaping a weaving, and how to read patterns, helpful tips
You will need:
Yarn
4” Dowel for hanging
Scissors
Yarn Guidelines
WARP:
You will need 3-4 yards of a strong yarn for the warp. I used a worsted weight acrylic. You can also use crochet cotton. Use a colour as close as possible to Yarn A. I used off white.
WEFT: there are three yarns for the weft. You can get quite creative with these. textured yarns work great. This pattern is designed for bulky weight yarn, and yardages below are for that wieght. For my weft, I used a single ply pencil roving. Lopi, Bernat and Patons all make great single ply pencil rovings, but again, you can get creative here.
Yarn A: 5 yards. I used white
Yarn B: 2 yards. I used mustard yellow
Yarn C: 10+ yards. I used charcoal
If you are an experienced weaver, there is information on adapting the pattern to worsted or chunkier yarns.
